BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH — LINDA L. BOOTH

 

Linda L. Booth is a member of the Council of Twelve Apostles, the leading missionary quorum of the Community of Christ. She is assigned to the Southern USA Mission Field which includes the Alabama-Northwest Florida USA Mission Center, Ark-La-Tex USA Mission Center, Florida USA Mission Center, Gulf USA Mission Center, Mid-South USA Mission Center, Southeast USA Mission Center, director of Communications Services and Herald House, and liaison with Contemporary Christian Ministries, receiving this assignment in April 2004.

Ordained as a member of the Council of Twelve on March 31, 1998, her past assignments included the Graceland Campus Ministries; Central USA Mission Field, consisting of the Tri-Stake Mission Center (Blue Valley Stake, Center Stake, and Santa Fe Stake), Midlands Mission Center (Kaw Valley District, Far West Stake, and Kansas City Stake), Central Missouri Stake, and the Central Development Area. Before ordination into the Council of Twelve, Booth was the assistant director of Communications Services.

A native of Independence, Missouri, she received a bachelor of science degree in journalism and communication from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas.

Her professional involvement includes serving as a member of Olathe Region United Way board of directors, president-elect of Overland Park South Rotary Club board of directors and Kansas School Public Relations Association board of directors, and vice president of the Camp Quality board of directors and Olathe Chamber of Commerce Futures Committee. Booth was the founding editor for Kansas City Parent Magazine, editor of Olathe Life Newspaper, and director of community relations and information for the Olathe School District, Olathe, Kansas, from September 1993 to December 1996.

Booth’s other church activities include serving four years as pastor of the Olathe Community of Christ and four years as counselor to the president of the Quorum of High Priests.

She is married to Douglas J. Booth. They have three sons, Burnie, Benjamin, and Bart; two daughters-in-law, Gretchen and Anna; and two grandsons, Brock Douglas and Corbin Walker.  Her hobbies include reading, reptiles, writing, and meeting new people.
