BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH – ROBERT DONALD WATKINS, JR.
Bob Watkins, a minister for the Community of Christ, is assigned to Florida USA Mission Center, president, effective September 1, 2006. Previously, he was president of Midlands Mission Center, Kansas City, MO. He holds the office of high priest.
A native of Moberly, Missouri, he received a B.S. in Psychology from Central Missouri State University. Bob has completed the Master of Arts in Religion from Graceland University. His Masters project was on generational studies and how the diverse culture in which we live has affected church growth in North America.
After college, he worked for Jackson County Juvenile Court as a probation officer. He moved to Denver, Colorado in 1983 where he worked as a project manager for a construction company. From 1993 to 1997, Bob served as full time Pastor at the Council Bluffs Central Community of Christ.
Bob has been involved in Ministerial Alliance Groups, and the National Association of Parliamentarians. He served as the vice president of the Ministerial Alliance in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was named the Minister of the Year in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1996.
Bob is married to Jane Watkins. They have four children and a daughter-in-law and son-in-law: Steven Watkins, Scott and Katie Watkins, Stacy (Watkins) and Kevin Elliott, and John and Lisa Townley. They have two grandchildren, Nickolaus and Tristan Townley. Bob’s special interests are hunting, fishing, camping, and fixing things around the house. He has traveled in the United States, Canada, the Bahamas and Grand Cayman Islands.
